Raffles Symphonic Band
Raffles Symphonic Band

Based in Raffles Institution (Year 5-6), we’re a group of passionate musicians who love making music together, and very much enjoy each other’s company. Made up of about 60 musicians each year (that’s 30 Year 5s and 30 Year 6s on average), we’re proud of being a band – and more.
Formerly known as the Raffles Junior College Symphonic Band since its inception in 1982, it was renamed the Raffles Symphonic Band following the merger of Raffles Institution and Raffles Junior College.
The Raffles Symphonic Band has regularly taken part in competitions such as the Singapore Youth Festival and Singapore International Band Festival, coming away frequently with top awards. The band attained the SYF “Best Junior College Band” award in 1999, 2001 and 2003, and the Gold Award in 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2011. We have also received invitations to perform at various school and local events. Apart from these, we have a concert, A Tempo, that is set to go beyond its 20th year.
